Crewe Model Boat Club
Sailing Days and times
Members are allowed to attend at the stated times to sail their model boats and must not attend outside the times stated.
We have permission to sail Model Boats but do not have permission to operate any airborne Models
We sail every Monday and Wednesday from 12 noon to 3pm.
Membership:
Our membership is open to all subject to proposal by two members and acceptance by members at a members meeting.
New members with or without their models are always welcome. If no third party insurance is held we will enrol the visitor as a day member for a small fee and this will provide cover under our Club insurance for the duration of the day of the visit. We allow three visits before they apply for membership to allow time for the individual to assess the facilities and the suitability of our sailing waters for their model.
Junior members pay no fees but must be accompanied by a responsible adult who must be a member of the Crewe & District Model Boat Club
General Data Protection Rules (GDPR)
Members and users of the web site have the right to ask for any personal information held to be corrected or deleted. Please use the contact page to ask the Secretary to amend or remove any data the Club might hold.
Visiting Modellers:
Visiting modellers are especially welcome with or without their models and we will always allow them to sail their models. Boiler certificates will be required for steam powered models.
Visiting modellers wishing to sail will need to provide evidence of current third party liability insurance or register as a day member for a small fee.
Shows:
We exhibited at the Universal Model Show at Malbank 6th Form College Welsh Row, Nantwich CW5 5HD on Sunday 25 February 2024.
Lakeside:
We have two bench table seats installed at the lakeside including one purchased in 2022. The club launching stage should be used with caution as it can be slippery in wet or frosty weather.
U-Swim now enter the water adjacent to our jetty and have installed false grass alongside the jetty. This can be slippery when wet and members are advised to take care and avoid walking over the area in wet conditions.
Our permission to sail is at the stated times on Mondays and Wednesday, please do not attend outside these times or on any other days as the lake is used by others. Members should not sail alone.
The seats are for Members use on club days and members of the Public should be asked to vacate whilst we are using the facility on sailing days. There is now relatively level access to both jetties so both are suitable to use to launch models. However the grass bank is steep and may be slippery at times. In wet weather the jetties can become extremely slippery and users are advised to take great care to avoid the risk of slipping.
Boundary Park is Private Property and there is no Public right of access. The owner has a no dog policy and does not allow I.C.or fast electric racing boats to sail on the lake. There are two further lakes between our water and Shakerley Mere, all are open to the Public and allow access for people wishing to walk or exercise their dogs
Parking
We are fortunate to have the use of the track adjacent to the lake. On busy days with many members attending it helps if those attending without a heavy model park further up the path to allow members with large heavy models easier access to the lake. Whilst there may be a need to allow some extra space alongside the car to rig a model, members are requested to park as close as possible to each other to make best use of the available space.
U-Swim
U-Swim Open Water Swimming attend on Sundays and also on a Thursday evening.
Monthly Meetings:
Held at least twice per year on an ad hoc basis at Boundary Park during an afternoon sail.
Members will be advised of the date prior to the meeting.
AGM
We held our AGM in 2024 and will hold another in 2025 at a date and time to be decided.
Members will be advised of the date prior to the meeting.
